My short story “The Love Cuff” was published on The Keepthings!

I challenged myself to submit a short story for publication, and my short story about my paternal grandfather was accepted and published today on The Keepthings online literacy magazine!! 🎊

The editor, Deborah Way, is a former Editor of #OMagazine, and was a joy to work with!

You can click the link below to read it on #The keepthings Substack and  Instagram page in its entirety.😍

I would really love it if you would take a moment to read, like, comment subscribe and shar, and support my work.

I’m really proud of this work and I think my grandfather would be too.

Thank you! ~ Toni

For You (my last poem) Original Poetry

Photo by Polina Tankilevitch on Pexels.com

This will be my last poem about you

The last chapter in a book it has taken me too long to write

A phrase that sounded good at first but every time I would revisit, found it had too many run on sentences

Too often I tried to recreate a feeling that continued to disappear

Soft melodies left cascading down the page

Harmonies left unfinished

Repeating verses upon verses all in the name of love

I kept yearning to be drowned in passion yet you always left me thirsty

I finally realized that your other obsession wasn’t me

Leaving me in a desert, searching for a pool of savior

I awakened to find that the only person who loved me unconditionally was me

Cause beloved you will let the hopes of a faded out career leave you homeless

and the ego desire to be with big tits and a fat ass that could give you syphilis cost you true love

I realize now it is time for me to pull down the shades

Close the door to the love that I tried to resurrect

That’s why this will be the last poem I write for you

My golden pen will be too busy writing for myself

Helping me to release, grieve and recover myself that I can rise and love again

Yes I’ll no longer write poetry for you, my words will be reserved for passionate whispers under satin sheets.

Love will always be the answer for me

Now that I no longer have to question

Just a few months left..

Hey did you know that I am the Mad Poet Society of Pennsylvania’s Poet of the Year?

“The Mad Poets Society, a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt arts organization, is an integral part of the Philadelphia writing community. Mad Poets has grown from humble roots and a handful of poets at Media Borough Hall in Delaware County, Pennsylvania, to over 100 members in six states.  It is an active organization of poets and writers who have joined together for camaraderie and critique with heart, to celebrate the creative soul and to promote the literary arts. “

In just a few months, I will have to give up my crown to another worthy poet. Each year they choose a poet who is given the opportunity to feature their work on their blog along with insight into their inspiration for the poem that they choose for the month. I am proud to be a mad poet and I thoroughly enjoy every event, poetry reading and book review that I’ve experienced and am in awe of the creativity, brilliance and compassion of the poets I’ve met.

It has been an honor and challenge to choose 12 poems out of all that I have written, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I hope you hop over to their blog to check out the poem that was featured in January, as I think about what I will choose for February. Which love poem should I choose?

Sending you much love !

Toni

Kiss 💋 #original poetry

Kiss
Kiss
These lips
They are eager for your gentle touch
The anticipation of soft skin against skin
Tender
Moist
Oh how I love the sensation of your tongue
Gliding ever so slowly around my oval
Moving deeper inside
Teasing my anticipation
Increasing my drive
Feeling warmth and compassion each time our lips collide
I can’t take the multiple explosions anymore
So I moan some form of your name
Begging you to come up for air
To give these lips
One
More
Kiss

Trusting the Process

Toni Love Spotlight Performance

#takecareofmetuesday
This photo by @zamanifeelingsphotography I call my “ok God, what’s next?” stance.
It was taken on a night that was a pivotal moment for me because I was surrounded by people who believed in me and didn’t want anything from me but to see me shine. I let go of my plan for the evening and let them help me, and it was greater than I ever imagined. I was the spotlight performer and ended up bringing a 3 piece band of good friends and we shut the place down (check out a clip of the performance below)! ✨️

When the rug is pulled out from under you without a warning, you can either stay where you’ve fallen and wait for someone to pick you up, or you can take the time to meditate and envision the beautiful, safe replacement “rug” God has in store for you, get up and go get your blessing.
✨️Just for today Let time take time, say no to people who are constantly taking and not giving and do what brings YOU joy today.
✨️Trust the process, everything will come full circle
God I’m listening

Finally Over

Finally Over

When I lost you
I found myself
Oh but it hurt
It pained for so long
Thinking of how foolish I had been
To believe in you
But my hurt turned into poetry
And dance
And I wrote
And danced
Until I filled up the emptiness in side of me
The void that set inside my soul when you were no longer there
Poetry about you and for myself
Flowed from my fingertips like golden run at carnival time in Trinidad
I loved until I stopped hurting
And found not only myself
But someone to love me for real
And yes I admit there were times I wished that he were you
Until constant caresses and truthful signs
Showed me that true love accepts me for what I am
Oh yes
It is finally over
Real love has rescued my weary soul
And you are but a faded memory
Because I am no longer afraid to receive the love
That I have been given
